Hello Ashlawn Families! I began instruction at Ashlawn in the 2008- 2009 school year, and I accept loved watching this customs grow. I graduated from The Maryland Constitute College of Fine art, where I received my undergraduate degree in Ceramics, and Chief of Arts in Teaching. In my complimentary time I love to cook and work in my garden, and travel with my husband and 2 children. My best favorite book is "Cute Oops" by Barney Saltzberg, to sum upward the book in a quote from its' text, "When you think you take fabricated a MISTAKE, think of information technology equally an opportunity to make something BEAUTIFUL". My favorite office of didactics at Ashlawn is watching the artists abound from year to twelvemonth every bit artists.

Hello! This is my eleventh yr instruction and first year at APS. I received a Available of Music in Music Education from Seton Colina Academy, in Greensburg, PA. The clarinet was the first musical instrument that I learned to play, and I am an active performer in the area. My favorite part of teaching Music is getting to see my students grow up, from Pre-thou to 5th grade, and beyond. I savour traveling to dissimilar countries and learning almost cultures, painting, running, and spending time with my domestic dog, Milo. I am looking frontwards to joining the Ashlawn community, and making music with the talented Ashlawn musicians!

I have been educational activity Music and Latin in Virginia for over xx years now. I grew up in Cleveland Ohio and had the opportunity to sing with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus as a young person, an experience which was life-irresolute for me. My degrees are from the Catholic Academy of America and the Academy of Georgia. I of my favorite things to do is to write musicals with my students. With my Latin students we have written over six musicals about the ancient Greeks and Romans. I honey singing and chorus and have a passion for vocal music from opera to hip-hop to doo-wop. Favorite hobbies for me are gardening, hiking and ballet.

Josh Readshaw is inbound his eighth yr of teaching and his first in Arlington. He holds a B.Southward. in Music Education from Indiana Academy of Pennsylvania. While at IUP, Josh had the pleasure of performing under the billy of Jack Stamp, a world renowned air current band conductor and composer, also as learning music instruction from some of the finest professors in the state. Josh is an agile musician in the DC area and has performed with Benny Benack Three, Nicholas Peyton, Joe Eckert and others. He has performed at the 2009 International Trumpet Guild Convention, The 2011 National Trumpet Competition and the American Musicological Society's national briefing. Mr. Readshaw has besides served as the assistant conductor of the NOVA Alexandria Customs Band. He is very excited to join the Ashlawn family for the 2020/2021 school twelvemonth!

Hello I am Erik Kamenski and I am excited to be your new ring director! This is my fifth yr as an APS instrumental music teacher. I am also an active chamber and orchestral clarinetist and woodwind clinician regularly behave masters classes throughout the east coast. I received Bachelor and Master Degrees in both Music Education and Clarinet operation, likewise as a diploma in instrumental conducting attending Temple University, the Ohio State University and Peabody Conservatory. I loved reading the Goosebumps books as a child. When I am not teaching or performing music I love to pigment!

I was built-in and raised in Michigan where I graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education and a minor in Schoolhouse Health. I also accept a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the Academy of Texas at Arlington. In my free time I relish exercising, playing with my kids and traveling. Right now my favorite Children's book is Little Excavator past Anna Dewdney, my son loves to have it read to him. I became a teacher for many different reasons, but the principal reason was so that I could become a long-lasting positive influence on students. I strive to foster a positive learning surroundings by building unique relationships with each of my students.

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania, simply outside of Pittsburgh, PA and take been in the Northern Virginia area educational activity unproblematic Physical Instruction for eleven years now. This will be my 5th year teaching PE at Ashlawn and I spent my kickoff 7 years teaching in Mclean, VA. I completed my B.Due south. focused on K-12 Wellness and Physical Education at the Indiana University of PA, my M.Due south. on Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention at the California University of PA and am currently working my +30 by taking more graduate level courses through Greenville University (IL). I bask being a lifelong learner and love having the opportunity to share my passion for learning, fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle to my students. I also enjoy exercise, all sports and spending time with my newborn son Noah. Some of our favorite books nosotros read together include The Piffling Blue Truck, That'southward Non My Puppy and Good Night Pittsburgh. Our goal in PE is to provide a safe, positive and fun learning environs where all students can actively acquire through a variety of movements and adopt a good for you agile lifestyle.

I graduated from James Madison Academy with a BA in Political Science, it was through coaching that I decided I wanted to switch my careers and go a Physical Instruction Instructor. This is my second year as a Concrete Educational activity Teacher for both Ashlawn and Discovery Elementary Schoolhouse. I am very eclectic when it comes to my interests, I can be very active, but I tin also prevarication down and become absorbed into a skilful book. I take a few childhood books that I still remember to this day and one of them was Curious George. My favorite part of beingness at Ashlawn is how welcoming and warm the customs is for both staff and families.

I grew upward in Arlington and went to Reed, Tuckahoe, and Swanson before moving to Fairfax. I attended James Madison University (Go Dukes!) and graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Unproblematic Teaching later marrying my Marine Corps husband and moving with him to Camp Lejeune, N Carolina. I afterwards graduated from UNC-W again with a Master of Arts in Gifted Education. In addition to Camp Lejeune, my family unit has lived in San Diego, California; Quantico, Virginia; Okinawa, Japan; Quantico again; Tampa, Florida, and finally back to my hometown of Arlington. I take four children. My two center children attended Ashlawn and my youngest will exist in 1st Form at Ashlawn this year! When I am not at school, I dearest to read and picket the Nats! I am so excited to be the GCP teacher again this year. I have been thrilled to lookout our students and staff grow and continue to have all people, protect the environment, help those in need, and work for peace since the Global Citizenship Project began at Ashlawn in 2008!
